The Original Amazonas wide brim Tarphat is made from recycled tarpaulins from open cargo trucks that run from Amazonas North west to the south of Brazil along thousands of miles of unmade red dust laden tracks with rain with sun & dust aging the material in a way that no factory could ever replicate. After which the material is washed and prepared ready to be made into "probably" the best original Brazilian tarp hats around. So all of the hats have seen more weather than most of us might see in a lifetime and do not need any looking after and are ready for their next job of keeping the elements off of you whilst looking rather cool at the same time.
All of the hats are individual with no two being the same, some will have repair patches on others will have stamps or writing on , this all adds to their charm and they are as individual as all of us…no mass production here , just individual style!. So now you can get your Brazilian Tarp hat in the UK at a great price cutting out the middle men and keeping the small shop in Brazil going, also with 50p from your hat purchase going towards supplying fresh water to remote villages in the Amazonian Rainforest they are a great eco purchase.
Here at Amazonas Tarp Hat you have a choice and you can choose the type of hat you want, just make your selection from the Original Tarp Hat which could have one or two feature patches or the Extreme Patch option which as the name suggests will have loads and the very rare tarp Hat with Portuguese markings on them which are really distictive, all types are available in 7 great sizes !

Over the moon with my Tarp hat the packaging was damaged but that wasnt your fault just careless handling somewhere on its journey to me. Important thing is the hat was not affected and its already done its job keeping my head dry in a very heavy downpour that wet through my jacket.

only 2 comments1 I always add 2 holes with metal bits in the brim at the sides near the vertical bit to take an anti blow away cord. I dont like using the ventilation holes for this.2 The elasticated hat band is a waste of space. It loses its elasticity and becomes a floppy mess. A proper hat band would be better.Other wise great. Ive bought 4 so far over the years.

I had one of these for years and it was fantastic. Even wore it to swim in the sea. My son borrowed it and lost it so I ordered 2 replacements for us both. The hats are fantastic. The wind ties and brow bands are expensive for what they are and I wouldnt bother with those again but the hats are amazing.

The hat itself is nicely made with a small patch and clean apart from historic wear marks. Once Id read the instructions on fitting the hat band it sets it off and the retaining cord can be coiled into the crown before you put the hat on if you dont need it.Service was excellent both Ana and Charlie replied to my emails promptly and after Id managed to type my delivery address in incorrectly it was changed after a message to explain what had gone awry.Delivery time was in around 4 days or so and because they also have a .de domain name no customs charges were applied.

The fabric and construction of the hat is substantial but surprisingly light weight.It has a nice wide reinforced brim which is easy to shape and having priced other similar hats this is definitely good value for money. Can be tricky to buy things like this online BUT in this case all went well. Sizing spot on having carefully measured my head. Looks high quality and is light and comfortable to wear. What can I say These are great hats people It fits very well indeed and is incredibly comfortable to wear all day long unlike some hats which start to make your head itch or ache after an hour or so of continuous wear. I have a number of hats and this one is nice and light. Should take some punishment. Wore it in the extreme heat did the job. My only gripe is the crown is tad small but thats a style preference and as everyone should have a hat this is a good one to start with.

Great hat rapid service. The only thing I would have changed about this hat is the internal headband which is a piece of elastic I would personally prefer a piece of material. The up side of the elastic is that it does grip your head in the wind. Overall a fun product for the price.

I am a hat person and have had many hats. This is my favourite by far. Dont waste your money on a Tilley hat when this does all the same and more for less than half the price. Plus I love that it is different to what you see everyone else with. I wear mine with the edges rolled up cowboy style and it looks mint. It will be with me on my travels from now on and will probably outlast me.

I was very pleased to receive my hat speedily well packed too. It fits perfectly. I bought the hat specifically for a month long trip to Peru which will be mostly undertaken in tropical forest on road foot river. I was in Guyana just over 2 years ago found that my hat was too floppy the brim virtually useless in keeping the sun off my face. I have to keep out of the sun due to a medical condition baseball hats just dont keep the sun off my neck and ears but this hat is perfect Its very well made and fits great.. Great service prompt delivery and a great product My tarphat came very well packaged in a strong cardboard box which was perfectly sized to protect the hat.Unfortunately my head came at the extreme bottom of a size-range so I wouldnt have been happy in a good breeze but when I mentioned this to Tarphat they sorted the problem by providing a pair of hat band padding inserts by return which sorted the problem perfectly, Like hats Get a Tarphat you wont regret it

Brilliant Hat looks like I have owned it since Indian Jones was young and I was his side kick but is actually new and well made. Kept the sun off me brilliantly on 3 big hill days and a shorter SUP trip. I have not given it 5 stars for as described as I have the one with the stiffened brim which makes me feel like Clint Eastwood but I dont think it can be folded and stuffed into a rucksack and the website says they all can. I might be wrong in this but Im worried the springy metal stiffener wont survive folding. It is not a big issue as generally I just wear it all day. My wife has gone for one of the floppy ones which she loves for gardening and it can be stuffed into a pocket. Overall a great product Amazonas Tarphat Comment - The hats CAN be crushed flat crown to brim and slid into a suitcase or rucksack - NOT folded ! we do not say "Folded" on the site

This hat is amazing I looked at buying one for quite a while as I burn really easy and my hobby means that I am out in the countryside for hours at a time which normally results in me burning my neck and cheeks as a baseball cap doesnt protect enough. I bought a tarphat with patches and not only does it look fantastic the fit is perfect and keeps me cool. Lots of people commented on it and they tried it on and asked for the website. Bought this hat for my husband to replace the one he has that came from Brazil. He loves it He wears it fishing when out in the garden and pretty much anytime he is outside. I struggle with hats usually - I rarely find them big enough but when I saw that the TarpHats go up to XXXXL 65cm I was excited After measuring my head circumference I ordered the XXXL along with the wind strap just in case.The hat arrived really well packaged and I was happy to see that it can be transported flat - which will make it easier to travel with. The wind strap turned out to be essential as the hat sits comfortably on my head Id even go as far to say a little loose but thats a welcome change to the hats that have previously cut of the circulation to my scalpRecently took part in the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge on a scorching hot and sunny day and the hat came into its own. Although I would say that I could have probably done with more ventilation - but then theres always the vented option... A great hat and I love the idea that my hat has already been on more adventures than me.

I used to own a tarp hat from another company who make these after seeing It on zombieland movie. I lost that hat and needed a replacement when I saw the amazonas tarphat website. I was concerned that the amazonas tarp hat would not be of the same quality due to it being a lot cheaper than the one I previously owned but when it arrived I was very happily surprised. It was a better fit and a better colouring. If I lose this one then I will definitely be returning to this website for another as it was cheaper and overall a much better hat.

Very happy with my wide brim tarphat. Im not overly confident at wearing hats but thought bollocks Im going for it. Wore it on a wet cold and very muddy dog walk. Certainly got noticed by a few people which isnt great for me but who cares. It certainly kept me dry and they looked soaked through in their beanies. Fit is perfect quality is superb and delivery was prompt. Highly recommend to anyone. Cant wait to get out in my canoe wearing this its much more individual than anything else Ive seen.

I love my hat thank you. As I will be wearing it mostly in the rain ? the first thing I did was to wax it with Barbour wax. The next day I spent 9 hours in torrential rain and it worked faultlessly. Bone dry head equals happy warm owner.

As everyone else seems to be saying too - what a great charismatic hat Particularly liked the proper wired brim that looks like it will last floppy hats are for floppy people and the full story on the label. Although my so-called sewing skills put me in a 1-out-of-5 mindset for a while all thumbs multiple needle stabbings blood tears start again more blood wheres my chain-saw thoughts... even the jazzy camouflage bungee hat band ended up looking pretty damn Crocodile Dundee-esq. Only one problem...its definitely an everyone look at me kind of hat so not really suitable for the very first outing with the new walking group...hence my very wet head at the end of last weekends walk - so traded the Whos the new cowboy whispers for the Has the new guy done this before type but cant exactly blame the hat that was keeping warm and dry in the boot of my car - or can I... A company that commendably likes attention to detail - even the packaging was hard to throw away.

Ordered on Wednesday it arrived in time for me to take it out into the wilds that weekend. My Tarphat really looks the part. It might look shabby but its really well made and very sturdy oh and ignore the styling tips my Tarphat has just moulded itself to my head and found its natural shape. I really cannot fault this hat. Ive had many hats over the years and this is the best outdoor adventure hat Ive ever owned. Top tip buy the chin strap as well. Theres no worse look than an adventurer conquering a mountain only for a gust of wind to get under the brim and you have to chase i5 down the hill into the next valley

Great hat bit like Australian stockman hats that they originally made and sold by the roadside have those too.Love the worn look of Tarp Hat but didnt want patches too visible all over place on front or around brim as other reviewers have commented on not looking too cool.Thats why ordered Original Amazonas Wide Brim Tarp Hat and only got one patch on crown great cos didnt want it to show too much. Have contemplated removing patch as other reviewer did and only found small nicktear not been brave enough to do on new hat I love the reclamation and ecological ethos also small charitable donation to help people in remote villages in the Amazonian rainforests get fresh water food and education.Ordered original hat and also reducers because worried it may be half inch too big unfortunately elasticated hat band inside is attached at back so could not fit reducer strip under as suggested on instructions and all over internet Also seemed a shame I put in order late afternoon on a Friday order not sent out til Monday subsequently arrived Wednesday after reading of fast two day deliveries from others. May have been cos I used discount code.Having said all that I am happy with great hat it is waterproof so far but was little hot in lockdown heatwave but still fantastic looking practical hat.

Its a hat. I cant comment on its ease of use as its a hat. It fits. It didnt require assembly - its a hat. The build quality is fine. The performance is everything I could expect from a hat - it does what its supposed do very well. Bought this hat with fabsil spray have been wearing it on several walks in weather ranging from hot sun to heavy rain and it has performed brilliantly keeping me cool and dry. My Tarp Hat is fantastic So much so that I rarely removed it from head during our fortnight on the North West coast of the Scottish Highlands - excellent protection from the sun it was sunny for the full two weeksId left my decision to purchase until the very last minute - two days before departure but when I contacted the company they were excellent arranging next day delivery with just the small additional cost of postage to pay.Buy one you wont regret it.

What a great choice this turned out to be I liked the look of it and the fact that is is made of recycled material but it is a great hat. Sizing is spot on I like the paracord hatband which really finishes it off and the cord does a good job of keeping it in place on windy days. It is very comfortable and easy to shape as you like it. The best thing for me is that it has a nice wide brim so does the job of keeping the sun off very well which was the main reason for buying it. Looks great too. Excellent service too.

I am very pleased with my new Tarp hat. It fits nicely and has retained its shape well. The lightness of it means you can almost forget it is there and the brim effects a lot of shade. The extras are a mixed bag - the chin strap was required on a gusty day so I am glad I ordered it. The headband was not actually fitted to the hat so I am now wondering what is the best means of retaining it. It is attractive so I would like to but I am not so keen on pushing a needle through the material when I would prefer it to achieve so level of waterproofing.If I had one recommendation for improvement it would be to add another inch to the height of the crown. The top of my head is touching the roof of the hat and I would rather have space for improved insulation or airflow. I have become accustomed in a few weeks to the current fit but it would be a definite improvement to have the added space. I dont know how the crown height changes with the hat size. Mine is a large with some padding around the brim to make it a snug fit.Dont let this detract from the fact that I am a very happy wearer of my Tarphat and would buy another when something untoward happens to the one I have.

I ordered my Tarp Hat just after midnight on a Wednesday night I had ordered the wrong size and had to email the customer service team straight away as I had noticed my error when I received the email confirming my purchase. My hat arrived first thing Saturday morning. so the transaction could not have been any smoother and the customer service is excellent.I ordered the wide brim Tarp hat with paracord hat band and a leather wind strap they all arrived together and took about 10 minutes to assemble the hatband just needs a couple of stitches to hold it onto the hat.I have worn it out on a couple of wildlife photography trips where it proved to be every bit as good as I hoped that it would be. It kept the sun out of my eyes and I found that it didnt require removing when I was using my camera. As a middle-aged man I realise how ridiculous I sometimes look with my usual baseball-style cap turned round so that the peak does not keep getting in the way of my camera. I was out for approx 6 hours on a sunny day and the hat kept me very comfortable my head did not get as sweaty as it usually does wearing a baseball cap. I got quite a few envious looks and a couple of people asked about the hat so it obviously looks the part. it is one of the few purchases that I have made that I genuinely fell in love with straight away and would heartily recommend these hats to anyone who is in the market for one.I am already dropping hints to my wife regarding getting one of the shoulder bags for my Christmas present this year.

I bought this hat on impulse and have so far been very impressed. The build quality is excellent considering it is made from recycled materials it performed well in the rain and it doesnt heat your head up in the hot weather. Overall a very comfortable robust hat that looks the part too.

Its a really good looking hat and it seems like it will do the job of keeping the sun off your head without getting too sweaty. When it arrived it had a nice used appearance so you dont have that hey Ive got a new hat look. It folds up well so you could keep it in a backpack when not being used.The materials are tough and the stitching seems like it will last. The tarp has a soft feel to it despite this toughness almost like suede. I used the Tarphat measuring advice. The hat feels a little tight - probably ok as long as it doesnt shrink. Im pleased. Its well made and looks good. If youre considering buying one but think maybe its not as good as the pictures you can relax it looks just as good in real life. Hats are so individual its a shame you cannot try a few to get a precise fit. Make sure you measure carefully before ordering. Id certainly consider buying another hat from Tarp Hat

I have a big head which burns very quickly so a decent-size hat made of thick material rugged and hard-wearing is what I was looking for. I used to buy Tilley hats which are all of the above but theyve become prohibitively expensive. So I thought Id try this. Glad i did. Great quality itll last me a long time. Took two attempts to get the size right but Ana and company took care of me like a film star. It looks so good. I have a few hats including felt fedoras but this is the baddest of them all. I love it. The fabric has such a unique patina and distress to it that along with the stitching makes for a truly cool hat. And it wont die in the rain. Perfect.

Great product and exactly what I was hoping for. The enclosed sunflower seeds were a nice touch and are all growing.A useful addition would be a panel to write owner details on in case of loss. I just used a sharpie but its hard to notice.Also I forgot to use my discount voucher from my previous order so maybe it could be automatically applied to a customers account instead of on a card.Anyway thanks for a great product and a great service..

My second hat from tarp. This ones for the loved one. My first is about 6 years old and still going strong used daily especially sunny days. Used on countless DIY jobs outside and numerous hiking trips in the hills in all conditions.keeps its shape really well no matter how many times its stuffed into a haversack.Would definitely recommend

I have been a lover of hats since as long as I can remember and I have an extensive collection. I have many bespoke hats mostly created by my favourite milliner Jill Corbett. I recently stumbled upon the Tarphats and was instantly drawn to their uniqueness and the back story which is both fascinating and a great example of how creativity can be married with reclamation and ecological awareness I ordered a Castro Miltary cap and as soon as it arrived I knew I had to order an Amazonas Tarp Hat. It arrived today with the accessories I also ordered Paracord and Windstrap and I am absolutely blown away with it. It is already my favourite hat and will get plenty of wear on my jaunts around Northumberland with Wor Bob my Border Terrier. I will be ordering a Messenger Bag real soon. This is an amazing company. This is a class hat...a real cool look. Ive got up to 20 hats which I wear regularly but nothing like this so its a great addition to my collection. I bought two of them so I could use one at work middle of the Sahara to soak up the sweat I wear a thin fitted bandana that I picked up at a bikers rally. I also bought a couple of the coconut shell hat bands...which I joined together to make one...yeah extravagant I know but well worth it. I bought an XXL which is on the large side to my usual fit even though its an elasticated trim on the inside I just put a strip of velcro on the inside as I always do in these cases...now a perfect fit. I then went on amazon and bought some coconut shell buttons and made up a hat band for the one I wear for work not as good as the one from Tarphat but it still enhances the look.

I came across Tarphat having been directed to an ad on uTube. Having taken a look at the Tarphat Website and understanding and agreeing with the company ethos I ordered the Wide Brim Tarphat.Delivery was prompt packaging spot on I was reluctant to recycle the Tarphat tissue paper. The quality of the hat is great - despite the lovely distressed appearance its obvious the hat has been made with great care.The hat has real Wow factor and beats the usual fly fishing headgear branded baseball caps deer stalkers flat caps etc hands down. And although its not an intended design feature I think the frayed brim will be superb for storing wet fishing flies on the river bank.If I have one suggestion for improvement it would be about the Baseball Cap page on the website. Im an XXXL size and that size doesnt appear. Im aware that theres an adjustable strap on the back of the cap but Im not confident that the strap on the XL will in fact provide the sizing up I require.This is a small issue that does nothing to diminish my pleasure in owning my Tarphat - maybe someone at Amazonas could advise me on the Baseball Cap size issue you have my details in my account settings and maybe think about updating that page on the website.Many thanks for an excellent product

Fed up with burning the back of my neck and the top of my balding head I looked for a sun hat. Found the tarp hat company liked the lookloved the ideabought one.placed my order on Sunday evening and afterwards was showing my wife what Ive ordered saw the braided band to go with it so I ordered one of them also. The hat arrived on Wednesday good packaging and even better hat.Im wearing it constantly and wearing it as I write this nowlooking forward to all the elements the weather can throw at me Ive got my head and neck covered Just read the reviews it tells you everything about the company and their fantastic product thumbs up from me and hundreds of other satisfied coustomers.

Hi I wanted to leave a review but couldnt see where to put it so will send it through here if thats okI bought a tarphat a few weeks ago and have been blown away by what a fantastic company this is to deal with. The hat arrived quickly in good packaging which protected it well. Its of an awesome quality and is even better than I expected I feel we will have many adventures together these are definitely hats you need to have adventures in and my husband has also asked me to get him one hat envy. This isnt the reason Im writing a review though although they definitely deserve one for the product the customer service from this company has been outstanding they couldnt be more helpful professional or efficient and its a rare thing to find aftercare of this standard so I wanted to say thank you not only for an amazing product but also for being a fab company to deal with. On a recent touring holiday of China one of my fellow companions was wearing a Tarphat when questioned about his hat he told me the Tarphat story. Thats when I knew I had to have one. I looked on the Tarphat website whe I got home but never got round to ordering one.On fathers day my youngest son presented me with my new best hat straight away I had to order a braided wind strap paracord hat band to make it my hat. We have just returned from a family holiday in Crete it was hot very hot but boy did I look feel COOL.I have told anyone who will listen about the Tarphat story since I now own a Castro eco cap.A very very happy bloke.

Absolutely brilliant manufacturing with this hat im very pleased with both the company and the products provided. The material feels great like it could take on anything. Bought myself the braided cord to go with this so i can carry it on my back it need be. Perfect sizing too my head is 58cm so the Medium fits very snugly not tight but not loose either. Looking very much forward to wearing this on my trip to the highlands in the summer. Worth every penny for a manufacture which is eco-friendly and unique 1010

My review is long overdue I ordered a Tarp hat before my holiday in October last year Ana dealt with my order and couldnt have been more helpful making sure I would get one that fits I went with no patches on mine as that was just my preference and when it arrived which was very quickly it was wrapped beautifully in a nice paper and the fit was perfect I wore it in spain on holiday the following week and it kept the rain off me when needed and the sun out of my eyes on other daysI have had so many compliments on my hat and everyone is really impressed when I show them the story inside the hat saying how it used to be a tarp from open cargo trucks and they all just think that its a brilliant way to recycle the tarps into such a quality item. I dont have one bad thing to say about this hat I have worn it loads and it still looks perfect it is very strong and will last a lifetime I may buy the baseball cap and possibly a backpack and wallet soon as I know the quality will be spot on.
